SPACES FOR LIVING WELL

The ground floor flows generously between shared spaces and quieter retreats. A dramatic double-height entrance hall with artworks from across the continents opens onto light-filled reception rooms, a relaxed games and drawing room, and a dining room for long candlelit meals, designed to feel cocooning and acoustically soft. Textiles mounted directly onto the walls—including a large kilim cut in two and a striking felted artwork handmade in Portugal by Burel—wrap the room in warmth and intimacy.

Hidden pleasures include a secret library tucked behind a bookcase and a quiet gallery landing designed for reading, working or simply watching the light change. A private office and the top-floor gym complete the experience.

The kitchen and bespoke boot room were created by Plain English, chosen for their enduring craftsmanship and quiet precision—essential on an island where things must be made to last. The sage-toned kitchen – flooded with light reminds of soft spring days and lush greeneries, and it’s both a cook’s dream and a social heart of the house, perfectly equipped, yet deeply inviting. It opens onto the large terrace overlooking the bay, blurring the boundary between indoors and out.

BEDROOMS ROOTED IN LANDSCAPE

Seven individually designed guest bedrooms occupy the upper floors, each offering complete privacy, sea or woodland views, and a palette drawn directly from Islay’s terrain. Earthy ochres, sea-glass greens and muted stone tones are layered with Turkish kilims, handwoven cushions, Scottish tweeds and ambient lighting with dimmers creating rooms that feel restorative and deeply comfortable.

All guest bedrooms feature:

  • Ensuite bathrooms with both bathtub and separate shower
  • Carefully positioned baths with views of the bay or woodland
  • Handmade decorative tiles
  • Aesop bathroom products throughout
